Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five years old and attended at the Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to be a professional actress when she was just at the age of six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy that offers part-time classes. At the age of 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 adaptation from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been chosen for these parts. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first appearance in a film was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. This film was 2001's highest earning film, smashing records on opening day and first weekend. The film was praised by experts, and also by the performances of its three starlets. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma received five nominations for her outstanding performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of a Film.
